The Neighborhood Portrait Project:
Over the period of several recent months, Gottlieb has gathered a collection of portraits of neighbors and friends in the community. Reflected in these portraits is the fleeting immediacy of everyday life living and working as craftsmen and artists in our working community of LA. They are portraits of people Gottlieb knows and runs into on a regular basis; people who lead interesting, creative lives and often have little time to commit to a demanding full length portrait sitting. Gottlieb painted each portrait in one or two sittings, using the Alla Prima (wet on wet) method. They are fascinating glimpses of individuals brimming with personality and attitude.
We are now excited to share his personal painting album with you.
